Our mechanical horse is a valuable training tool that helps riders develop
Service Description
Mechanical Horse Lessons at TopLine Equine Build confidence. Improve balance. Protect the horses. Our mechanical horse is a valuable training tool that helps riders develop their position, balance and confidence in a safe, controlled environment before progressing skills on a real horse. At TopLine, horse welfare comes first. New or developing riders can sometimes bounce, grip, wobble or pull while they are learning. That is completely normal — but it can be uncomfortable for real horses. The mechanical horse gives riders the chance to practise, make mistakes, improve, and build strength without putting pressure on a live horse. Why use the mechanical horse? Mechanical horse sessions are ideal for riders who want to: * Improve rising trot * Practise sitting trot * Build canter confidence * Work on balance and symmetry * Improve rein contact without pulling on a horse’s mouth * Strengthen their core and lower leg position * Prepare for new skills before trying them on a real horse * Rebuild confidence after a break, fall or nerves A safer way to learn new skills On a real horse, we may only be able to do a few short moments of trot or canter while a rider is learning. On the simulator, riders can practise for longer, repeat exercises, stop and restart, and receive clear feedback from their coach. This means riders can build skill and confidence much faster — while our horses stay comfortable, happy and protected. Invitation-based skill progression Some riders will receive an invitation from their coach to try a new skill on the mechanical horse before attempting it on a live horse. This might include: * First trot work * Canter preparation * Riding without stirrups * Improving contact * Jump position preparation * Advanced rider conditioning Once a rider reaches the required balance and skill level, they can be signed off on our rider skill records and receive a certificate of achievement. Who is it suitable for? Mechanical horse lessons are suitable for: * Complete beginners * Children learning rising trot * Nervous riders * Adults returning to riding * Riders preparing to canter * Competition riders wanting position feedback * Advanced riders wanting strength, symmetry and conditioning work Session length 30-minute mechanical horse sessions are available with a TopLine coach. These sessions can be used as a standalone lesson or alongside ridden lessons as part of a rider’s development plan. Welfare First Coaching
