At TopLine, we are proud to be a recognised Pony Club centre – giving our riders the chance to be part of the world’s largest equestrian youth organisation. Becoming a Pony Club member through TopLine means more than just riding: it opens up a pathway of learning, achievement, and belonging that lasts a lifetime.

Our ethos at TopLine matches perfectly with Pony Club values. Both place the horse’s welfare at the heart of everything we do, encourage safe and responsible riding, and believe in supporting each individual to reach their potential – whether that’s learning to groom for the first time, building confidence in the saddle, or preparing for competitions.

Pony Club Riding Group Lessons

Syllabus-Led • Achievement-Focused

TopLine is an official Pony Club Centre. Our Pony Club riding groups follow the official Pony Club syllabus, delivered in the TopLine way — supportive, structured, and welfare-first.

Pony Club groups focus on:

• Pony Club ridden standards

• Shared progression goals

• Achievement badges and skill recognition

• Applying riding skills in a Pony Club context

Pony Club groups answer the question:
“What is this rider working towards?”

What’s Included in a Pony Club Session

Every Pony Club session at TopLine includes both ridden work and badge/achievement work.

Ridden Work

• Structured riding aligned to Pony Club standards

• Correct, safe group riding

• Skills appropriate to the rider’s stage

• Delivered in line with the rider’s TopLine Tier alignment

Badge & Achievement Work

• Practical Pony Club badgework

• Stable management and horsemanship

• Discussion, demonstrations and hands-on learning

• Progress recognised through consistency, not pressure

There are no high-pressure test days unless appropriate. Readiness is assessed naturally through lessons.

Pony Club Riding Groups & Tier Alignment

Although both pathways are group lessons, they serve different purposes and work side by side.

Pony Club Beginner Group

Typical Tier Alignment: Tier 2, Pony Club E / D tests
(Some riders may be Tier 1 moving up)

• Independent walk and trot

• Early Pony Club ridden skills

• Confidence and group riding awareness

Pony Club Intermediate Group

Typical Tier Alignment: Tier 3, Pony Club D+/C tests
(Some riders may also sit at Tier 4)

• Confident walk and trot

• Canter development

• Accuracy and consistency

Pony Club Advanced Group

Typical Tier Alignment: Tier 4–5, Pony Club C+,B,B+

• Confident, effective riding in all paces

• Quality, adjustability and rider feel

• Higher-level Pony Club expectations

Using Tier Groups as a Top-Up

Because Tier lessons are also group sessions, riders may:

• Attend Tier groups only

• Attend Pony Club groups only

• Combine Pony Club groups with Tier groups for additional support or refinement

Tier groups are often used as a top-up to:

• Build confidence

• Improve balance and position

• Refine effectiveness

• Support progression within Pony Club

This flexibility allows riders to progress correctly without pressure.

Assessment, Placement & Communication

Riders are assessed based on:

• Riding ability and confidence

• Independence and control

• Safety and awareness within a group

• Readiness for Pony Club expectations

After assessment, families will receive a clear email confirming:

• The most suitable Coaching Tier group

• The appropriate Pony Club group (if applicable)

• Guidance on whether combining groups would be beneficial

This removes guesswork and makes booking straightforward.

Catch-Up Sessions & Holiday Development Days

To support steady progress, we also offer:

Catch-Up Pony Club Sessions

• For missed sessions

• For riders needing extra time on specific skills

• For confidence or consolidation

Holiday Pony Club Development Days

• Longer sessions combining ridden work and badgework

• Ideal for focused progress

• Opportunities to work towards or complete achievements

• Calm, supportive learning environments

These sessions are optional and designed to support, not rush, progression.
